Thousands of people will put their soles into walking and running at Fort Worth’s longstanding favorite, Joe’s Run.
For the first time, the 2012 Joe’s Run will not only feature a 5K and 10K but also a Family Fun Walk. The walk will be an opportunity for everyone to participate in this exciting worthwhile event.
Joe’s Run will also feature activities that are fun for the entire family including food, music, interactive games and more.

The parrot was originally adopted as the run mascot in 1998 in part to honor our major run sponsor at that time, Joe T. Garcia. The parrot also helped us to achieve our goal of creating a fun, up-beat atmosphere that would be enjoyed by people of all ages at our race event.
It was not long after this that one of the Samaritan House residents pointed out that the parrot also symbolizes the great diversity of people that live both in the Samaritan House itself and also in the apartments known as the Villages at Samaritan House.
The colorful parrot celebrates our diversity and it also is a bird that has a voice and that can fly, symbolizing that the residents of our agency are growing and also, in their own ways, learning to fly.

Samaritan House provides much needed housing and resources for positive change in the lives of persons living with HIV/AIDS and other special needs. Samaritan House, located in Fort Worth, is a Texas non-profit, 501 (c) 3 agency providing valuable services for people in our area for 20 years.
Proceeds from Joe’s Run will be used to support Samaritan House where services are geared to rescue, nurture and launch people toward healthier and more independent lives. At any one time, more than 400 people are housed and served through Samaritan House and its programs, both individuals and families with children.
